Elders Call Off Meetings A Lot More Easily Than They Did Before For Inclement Weather
by minimus inthe meetings were cancelled in this area with only 2 inches of snow for the "storm''.

a month ago the co had the meeting cancelled because it was a bit tracherous, which i thought was a good call..... years`ago, if we cancelled a meeting it took until one hour before the presiding overseer would finally decide to cancel.. today's jws are wimps..

Girl scout cookies are demonized
by Gojira_101 inokay so i think it might be the concussion making me go on this rant...not too sure.. the girl scouts started selling their cookies yesterday and for the first time in my life i will be ordering cookies.....i mean wtf is so wrong with ordering cookies from them?
i love the thin mint's and guess what?
you can only buy them from girl scouts!!!!!!.

by alfredjones100 ini have a question i'd like to ask long time witnesses and hopefully get serious answers ... if there is one.. can anyone tell me any area of life that active witnesses are totally free to use their own christian conscience on a matter?.
(for example, one that has not been commented on by wt articals).

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

I was not raised in the borg, I was already an adult with a degree and a career when I got sucked in. However, I do have three kids and I saw the pressure other parents were put under to keep their kids from going to university. There was one young sister who did go away to university, and she came home with a worldly husband and step son. The only other family to buck the trend sent their son to uni for an engineering degree, and he's quite successful in that career now, and none of that family attends meetings anymore. So the local elders use that as confirmation that university education is bad and will destroy your spirituality. Also, the COBE never went to university and he owns his own business selling industrial supplies and equipment. He's made good money at it, upper middle class lifestyle - ski trips, cruises, eating out all the time - so he thinks anyone can do just fine without a degree. He didn't let either of his kids go to a regular university - his daughter went to cosmetology school and his son went to a 2 year technical school for graphic design.
I always told my kids that a good education was important and that they should choose something that they liked and that paid well. I guess in a few more years we would have been the black sheep of the hall when our oldest went away to uni.

The time is near for my families crucification

we have held off on revealing our true names, my dad has held off joining jwn and telling his story because we have been waiting for one special event.
